‘Honors Headline’ Weekly Newsletter

Project Duties:

  • Logo Design

  • Discovery and Strategy

  • Branding Development

  • Copywriting and Proofing

Created: April 2022

Objective:

UW Eau-Claire’s University Honors Program is a community built upon creativity, exploration, and academic excellence that extends beyond the classroom, bridging the gap between courses and community. With a growing program came the need for a communication refresh that prioritizes engagement with their current and prospective community of scholars.

When I joined UW Eau-Claire’s University Honors Program as their graphic designer, they tasked me with revamping the weekly newsletter sent out to all honors students and faculty throughout the fall and spring semesters.

At the time, the newsletter served as a way of delivering information. I reexamined our goals and sought to create a structure that would strengthen the bond of the honors community while providing opportunities unique to the program. I overhauled the original newsletter, including a new name, logo, and release day. I wanted a condensed format of the sections we highlight most while maintaining engagement and emphasis on honors-specific content.

After navigating university policies, branding guides, and Mailchimp limitations, the finalized identity for the Honors Headline newsletter brings an engaging, concise, and polished aesthetic into an academic context.  The redesign resulted in a 10% engagement increase and won first place in the National Collegiate Honors Council’s 2022 newsletter contest.
